A lovely route through the leafy suburb of Forest Hills - relatively flat considering the area. A very enjoyable route - highly recomended.

First race of the year with plenty of hills.

Cool conditions for the first stage. A bit of rain just before the start. Mostly single track through the forests. Fairly easy running. Two big climbs on the route. One river crossing just after the start.

New route from Eersterust stadium. With a few hills. I saw 3 that were named. Killing me softly hill. Helpmekaar hill. The last little climb to the finish was called Going nowhere slowly hill. Great organization!

All 15km in the Arigricultural Research Centre. A few bits of off road through the ploughed fields. Well organised.

One of the few races in South Africa that are measured in miles instead of kilometers. An undulating run mostly on tar except for the two occasions when you cross the ridge. And mile 8 to 9. Well organised and worth doing. Its only difficult if you are not used to running on trails. Course 400m long because the lead bike took a wrong turn.

Night trail run. It rained heavily during the afternoon after stage 1. The road from the start to Merry Pebbles was flooded and there was a lot of mud on the way out of the car park. But that did not dampen the enthusiasm. Fairly flat easy running on single track alongside the river.

Great run. A bit chilly at the start. The route follows a road around the outskirts of Middelburg. It is and out and back route that is undulating but there are no difficult climbs. The second half feels like more downhill than the first half. Well worth making the trip from Johannesburg.

You may not get to see many animals on this race because they chase them away to protect the runners. But its all about the weekend game viewing in the park. This year it was quite warm during the race. The beer at the 19km water point was very welcome and the beer at the finish was worth running for.

A half marathon in the Kruger National Park. Run on some tar as well as off road through the African bush. Rangers guard the route. The race starts late, at 08:30am, so you can do a game drive before the event.

Weather was great for running.

Chilly morning. Lots of twisting and turning on this route with some minor bumps along the route. Well organised.

There are a number of monsters here! The long climb up to 6km. The concrete road up to the stairs at the cave entrance. The steps up to the cave. And of course the monster in the cave. Our last monster was the swimming pool after the run. Freezing water. We went into th epool because we could not find the showers. A well organised race. Worth doing.

The 998m and 668 steps in the cave would not register here.

A run out in Vanderbijl Park. Lots of twists and turns allows you to see the other runners quite a few times. All races are on the same out and back route. No big hills. There are one or two minor climbs. A wheelchair friendly route.
