0: Orna and Ella
coffee shop turned bistro. known for their world-famous sweet potato cakes and "everything" salad. menu is mosly local and seasonal delicacies, and most of the ingredients are locally sourced.
oh, and another fun fact: they're known for their cute, male-only staff (not very common in Israel)
Más sobre Orna and Ella1: Dabush Shwarma
this popular shwarma joint is open till the wee hours. resist ordering your shwarma in a Lafa (hugh thick flatbread which will keep you stuffed for 2 days), and stick to the moderately-sized pita bread. you can even order a half-sized portion ("hatzi mana") which is the best value for money. don't miss the free all-you-can-eat salads and fixings and the hilarious giant Shwarma shredding robot.
Más sobre Dabush Shwarma2: Hotel Montifiori (and restaurant)
French-Vietnamese fare. best business lunch in town (in my opinion :). get first course, all you can eat breadsticks (baked on the premises), dessert and coffee for the price of the entree (which range from 60 to 100 NIS). watch the financial district executives and celebrity lawyers kick back and mingle over snacks and drinks. great seafood and great wines. desserts are out of this world.
Más sobre Hotel Montifiori (and restaurant)3: Humus Abu Dhabi
this tiny little vegetarian eatery takes pride in its surprisingly light and irresistibly creamy hummus concoctions. The reggae music and laid-back atmosphere make it fun, and it's great for people-watching on the busy King George street. the bonus: free hummus refills (if you can finish your plate), and black coffee on the house. The falafel is also very good, and fried to order.
watch out for friday afternoons, as it gets extra hard to find a table. anyone waiting is kept happy with free shots of Arak (lebanese anise flavored liquor)

slightly upscale middle eastern fare, and the best malabi i ever had (w/ shredded phyllo & homemade candied rose confiture)
Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel
Más sobre bertie5: Cafe Noir
romantic little bistro, famous for their huge chicken (or veal) shnitzel. they have the most AMAZING starter that's called Pita Druzit, and is out of this world (!!!). it consists of a fine crispy pastry stuffed with spiced lamb and pine nuts, served with yogurt sauce. it is divine.

Más sobre Cafe Noir6: Hamitbahon ("little kitchen")
this cute little restaurant caters to market goers and the local neighborhood foodies (this neighborhood, called the "Yemenite Quarter" or "kerem ha teimanim" is worth a leisurely stroll on its own. it looks like tel aviv from the 50's). on the menu are homey stews, stuffed vegetables and salads, all freshly made with produce from the nearby Carmel open air market.
Más sobre Hamitbahon ("little kitchen")7: Nehama Vahtzi
busy neighborhood coffee shop, overlooking the beatiful "Bima" square, with a great selection of tasty "homey" food. service is a little slow, but the chicken meatballs (with onion gravy and mashed potatos) and all day breakfasts are tasty, and good valued. closed friday night.
Más sobre Nehama Vahtzi8: Vanillia Ice Cream
My favorite ice cream place in tel aviv. Try the Mascarpone-Berry flavor, or Cardamom-White-Chocolate. the chocolate milkshake is a treat.
Más sobre Vanillia Ice Cream9: Iceberg Icecream
most people think this is the best ice cream in tel aviv (which probably explains the hugh crowds)
Más sobre Iceberg Icecream10: Lechamim ("breads")
hugely popular mediterranean-style bakery (although they make superb french pastries as well), open 24/7. great selection of freshly baked artisanal breads (sourdough, also). my humble favorite is the chocolate rogelach, but it's impossible to stick to just one choice. you just want a bite of everything!
Más sobre Lechamim ("breads")11: Brasserie
popular french restaurant, open 24/7, second home to many local celebrities and socialites. best french fries in tel aviv, in my opinion. they have a VERY good french-style bakery next door that opens daily, and have 50% discounts on everything an hour before closing (8pm) every day.

Más sobre Brasserie13: White Night Attraction - Carmel Market
As one of tel aviv's White Night events, the sizzling Carmel open air market (which is an attractive destination by its own) will be open till late (23:00 instead of the usual 19:00). Enjoy a freshly squeezed Tapugezer (orange-carrot juice), taste fifty different kinds of olives from fifty different places around the world, or arrange a cherry-pit spitting contest!
Más sobre White Night Attraction - Carmel Market14: Jaffa Flea Market
great place for various knick-knacks.
open everyday, except saturdays, till around 14:00
fridays are especially busy
if you get a chance, check out the nearby Abulafia stand (on Yefet street): a very popular tradional middle eastern bakery. the tiny stall next door serves excellent Malabi and Sahlab (rosewater flavored puddings)
