1: Regional conference on Social Partnership in VET in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean

14-16 Oct 2012
Employers' and trade unions' involvement in development of vocational training has been in the heart of the ETF project launched in 2010.
After two years work social partners and government representatives from Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries meet in Istanbul to take stock of the developments. From the beginning of 2013 specific activities to support social partners will continue in new ETF project “Governance for Employability” which is presented to participants in Istanbul.
The project focused on mutual learning at regional level between participants from all seven countries and to development of capacities of national organisations. The project has produced a guide as a toolkit for employers and trade unions to engage themselves into improvement of VET. ETF has also analysed social partners’ involvement in VET policies in Jordan, Morocco, Occupied Palestinian Territory and Tunisia. These products will be presented and debated in the conference.

2: Study visit on Career Guidance for Jordanian stakeholders to Turkey

14-18 Oct 2012
The main objective of the study visit is to provide capacity building in career guidance to Jordanian policy makers through the opportunity to learn and examine policies and practices of the Turkish career guidance system, in particular its newly developed National Career Information System. The case of Turkey was selected due to its longstanding experience in career guidance which provides a good learning laboratory for neighbouring countries in the region. The main focus will be to look at how a national web-based career information system can be developed and implemented which serves all target groups with a lifelong learning perspective. The feasibility to apply such state-of-the art career information system to the context of Jordan will be explored (i.e. occupational and educational information, self-help facilities, on-line tests, e-guidance, e-portfolio) and special attention will be paid how to counteract vocational stereotypes and the promotion of gender equality in education and employment. Moreover, the Turkish experience in co-operation and co-ordination mechanisms for career guidance services will be studied.
