Descripción del sitio

Magellen decided after harboring in Puerto San Julian for the winter he prepared to leave and navigate through the Strait that would later take his name. Realizing the difficulty in getting around South America he decided to kidnap a couple of Pantagonia Natives to point the way through the treacherous strait. Magellean decided to invite two of the Natives to board the ship for a "party". According to Antonio Pigetta at the end of the party the two men where showered with gifts, so many in fact, they could hold all of the gifts. The last gift given by Magellean to the unsuspecting natives was shackles of which Magellean aboliged the two men in putting on since their hands were already full. The two realizing what had happened tried to escape but to no avail. He left the new colony on Oct 18, 1520 heading for the strait.
