GREENBANK - grass fire. Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews remain at the scene of a vegetation fire burning in the Spring Mountain Conservation Reserve on Bellbird Drive, Greenbank. The blaze, which has been burning since Monday 15 October, has burnt more than 1,500 hectares. The fire is currently burning within containment lines and crews will continue to conduct backburning operatio
ns along Tully Road, Greenbank throughout the afternoon and into the night. Large volumes of smoke will be visible in the surrounding suburbs of Greenbank during backburning operations. A smoke haze is present for several kilometres around the fire. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they suffer from respiratory illness, keep medication close by. There is no current threat to property. Residents are urged to monitor their property and if they believe the situation has changed and their home is under threat, they should phone Triple Zero (000) immediately.
