Youths threatened with knife

Mirrabooka detectives are searching for a man who tried to rob a group of youths at knife-point in Balcatta yesterday.
Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said the group had been sitting at the front of a Chinese restaurant at the Stirling Central Shopping Centre about 2.10pm when they were confronted by the man.
The man pulled "a large-handled kitchen knife" and held it near their stomachs before demanding their wallets.
When one of the victims distracted the man, three of the others escaped.
Ms Weatherall said the offender threatened the youth and fled.
None of the group was injured.
The man was seen leaving the area in a green four-wheel-drive.
