A 66-year-old man has been shot at with a pen gun after a scuffle in Edgewater last night.
About 8.45pm the 66-year-old was sitting in his parked Landcruiser with a female friend at Yellalonga Park when a man approached the vehicle and told the 66-year-old that he had a pen gun and "wasn't joking".
The man told the 66-year-old to hand over his keys but he refused.
Police say the man then heard a "loud bang, and a flash".
A scuffle took place and the man was struck in the head with an unidentified weapon.
The owner of the car eventually handed his keys to his attacker but the man could not start the Landcruiser and fled.
The 66-year-old had seven deep lacerations to his head from the attack and was taken to Joondalup Health Campus.
Police have called for witnesses to the attack.
