Route 112 and the The Greeley Ponds Trail to the Mt Osceola Trail up and over East Osceola to Mt Osceola. Very cold and wind today. About -10 F and wind speeds from 5 - 20 mph. The upper .75 mile of the Osceola trail to the summit of E. Osceola is very steep. The Chimney on the ridge is always a challange. Starting at Chemin Régimbald in Saint-Donat, we took the trail in a counter-clockwise sense. Thus we would have arrived early at a warming hut (there is an intersection after around 3 km where you need to walk another kilometer), so we skipped it. Lovely day, temps in the mid teens, Ishmael and I started up to the Willey Range about 9:50 am. Visited Mount Tom and fed the Greyjays. We then proceeded on to Mt Field where we photographed a Pine Martin at the summit. Some young twenty somethings had caught up to us and we convinced them to break out the trail to Willey for us. We then proceeded on to Willey behind them....

Fire Warden's trail was in great shape. Snow started to give way on descent due to warm weather and massive hiking partner (Mr Creosote). Other companions included Paradox and Rolling Rock.

Extremely steep from the Black Mountain Col to the Black Mtn Pond trail junction. The views from the ledges are wonderful. Visibility into Vermont and could see Killington Ski Area. We took a short bushwhack on the way out that cut off 0.8 miles and about 17 minutes.

We headed into the teeth of a storm for this one. We had selected this hike because we knew that we could stay below the treeline and save ourselves the exposure. Winds never got over 25 mph for the whole hike. We started about 7:20 am and the snow was just starting to fall as we headed up the Livermore Road. Started out rather cold cloudy and windy but ended up a beautiful day. We did end up in some rather nasty spruce traps in the Iroquois-Algonquin col. Do NOT go alone this late in the season!

Loop going up Blueberry Ledge Trail, across the Rollins Trail, up to Passaconaway and out via Dicey Mills Trail. Light snow cover at the start, switched to snowshoes above the ledges and took them off at the car. Temps 28 to start, cooler on top, and 34 with heavy snow back at the car.

Beautiful day up on the Carter Range. Several feet of snow pack allowed us to get above the tops of trees and get views one does not see the rest of the year.

It's a long slog out to the herd path, which is 0.1 miles SE of the Ward Brook Leanto. The herd path grade gradually increases from level ground to almost a 60% grade about 0.3 miles from the summit.
