Michigan Ditch Trail is a hidden backcountry trail used for snowshoeing... it's hidden in the Larimer region in Colorado right smack in the middle of Roosevelt National Park. Trail is quite wide and marked, snow can get pretty deep in some areas. Try not to veer off the path as the snow can easily reach your chest area, trust me, hard to get out of that! You can snowshoe...

A 1/1/11 expedition up Mt. Field via the Avalon Trail then onto Mt. Willey along the Willey Range trail. Conditions were warm and with spring-like snow conditions. It was quite overcast with poor visibility in fog for much of the hike. We bypassed Mt Avalon on the way up in hopes of getting a view on the way down.

Out and back to Mount Osceola and East Peak from the Kanc via Greeley Pond and Mount Osceola Trails. Super conditions on a well broken out snow shoe track. I went car to car on snow shoes. Others used a combination of crampons, micro spikes and snow shoes. Most challenging 7.6 miles I've done in winter yet.
