After a morning ride with Bigfoot Bike Club, I headed off to Hogtrough Hill to teach it a lesson it wouldn't forget. After three ascents it was clear that Hogtrough was ready to throw in the towel. Honour satisfied I headed back to Hayes via Holwood Farm Shop where I had a coffee and a wonderful slice of coffee and walnut cake. Job done. Take that Hogtrough.

15-APR-10. Plenty of parking at the large free car park north of the Falkirk Wheel. There is a 2km diversion to the Birkhill station on the Bo'ness steam railway. Lunch at Park Farm cafe, where the ride first reaches the Union Canal. A good front light or torch is useful for the 631 metre Falkirk canal tunnel.

Follows the Rheidol Trail out of Aberystwyth alongside the river to Cwm Rheidol. From here it climbs steeply to the lakes at Trisant before descending into Cwm Ystwyth to pick up the largely traffic-free Ystwyth Trail - Sustrans Route 81 (Lôn Cambria) at Trawsgoed which it then follows back into Aberystwyth.

Easy route around the Portsmouth area in Hampshire. 95% of the route is on paved roads. There is a small path that is not, but easy alternatives are availables. The route starts in Portsmouth and heads to the north towards Waterloovile and later to Rowland Castle on small roads with almost no cars. Going back to the south, passing by Havant, there roads are messier but with ...

A bike ride between London Bridge and Dartford railway stations alongside the Thames for most of the way. Level and mostly off-road on good surfaces, though one or two shortish sections are gravelly. A section alongside the River Darent is a little stony. The area to the SW of the Dome is being developed (as at 2010-2011) and the route is already more alongside the river th...

2012-04-15. Bike ride based roughly on National Cycling Route 21 (Waterlink Way) with some intentional and some unintentional deviations. Catford to Caterham, where we found that the trains weren't running, so a dull ride up the A22 had to make it Catford to Purley.

Short loop but a bit hilly between Lodon and Kent councils. Beyond Greenwich the roads will be very quiet and sourounded with nice trees and houses. The ride back to London follows the National Cycling Network nº21. For me, one of the best ones in London! Enjoy

Great cycle from Nunhead in Southwark down into Surrey, looping around Biggin Hill, with some pretty steep sections and a great coast back down towards London (If you take the clockwise direction!). Follows much of one of the Dulwich Paragons cycle club routes.
