I will walk all 50 miles of these streets by the September 15 2007. The rule for a "walk" here is that the walk needs to be at least 10 minutes long and must include the whole street.
This is a short loop around my neighborhood and through Lawton Park. There's some large elevation gain up Thurman and through the park, then a steep downhill on Ruffner. Roughly One Mile
On Wednesday nights David Anderson comes by and we walk down to the pub. It's not quite long enough to qualify as aerobic.
Walked on:
9 May 2007
16 May 2007
This is a great elevation gain walk from my house. Bertona has a good 8% grade to it and 24th Ave W has maybe a 5% grade up, then 6% down, then Ruffner is 8% down to my alley, then flat to my house and 8% through my yard to 22nd and then down to Ruffner and back up 8% again.
So for a 10 minute walk, it's a pretty tough one.
Walked on:
9 May 2007
This is a slight extension of the Ten Minute Quick Loop. It includes a trip down 23rd Ave W and then down the length of my block on 22nd Ave W.
Walked On:
9 April 2007
The walk from my office to Fremont for lunch.
Walked on:
8 May 2007
Leave the office, out and back in 10, good coverage. Keeps you honest.
Walked on:
8 May 2007
This is another 10 minute walk from the office that includes a lot of stairs.
Walked on:
10 May 2007
Slowly inching my way through the neighborhood, tonight grabbing another 10 minute, high elevation gain walk with my wife.

11 May 2007
A quick 10 minute walk to get a drink with 8 times the calories than the walk will burn off.
Vivian and I walked from our car parked for the Mariners / Yankees game to dinner and then went to window shop for furniture.
The Mariners won 3 to 0. Jarrod Washburn pitched 8 full shutout innings. Nice club level seats with a great view - especially for Vivian.
A nice loop after an active day. If you look at the Hybrid, you'll notice that 24th has a few sections of parallel streets.
This is also a crazy aerobic loop with a lot of elevation gains and losses. On 24th between Dravus and Bertona, there's a 5% down to the middle of the block and a 7% up from there north.
Walked:
12 April 2007
Working with Vivian to get the closer neightborhood cleaned up. This is a mostly flat and rather unattractive walk that we did to get a few more streets in.
Walked:
12 May 2007
Vivian and I took a quick walk, mostly flat, about a mile and a half around the center of Magnolia.
13 May 2007
Went for Dim Sum at the Taiwanese Rocking Wok.
After had a 15 minute walk through Wallingford
13 May 2007
Foregoing the parking lot loop by Starbucks, this route goes down to the Duck park and back to Starbucks.

Two smoky martinis and an amazing meal later, I needed a good walk to stretch out and get some serious blood flowing. This is an older neighborhood of Colorado Springs, lots of wonderful turn-of-the-century architecture here. No tourist would ever find their way here accidentally.
This 18 minute walk starts flat down gilman then has a good elevation gain on Elmore and a huge one on 26th, probably an 11% grade. Then 12% down on Thurman and 6% up on 25th. There's a flight of stairs down from the end of 25th, then about a 5% grade down emerson to my house.
Walked 18 may 2007
See the parking lot flag for a description.
It's been a year since I started reading one Philip K Dick book a month. I want to write a very long blog post about it. But I needed to get away. So I walked this 20 minute hike to Cafe Apassionato and picked up several new roadway stretches in the process. This was followed by the Longer Walk Back from Coffee.
Holy cow, with my laptop and several Philip K Dick books in my bag. I did this 25 minute walk with 35 pounds on my back. There are several elevation gains and losses on this particular walk. But danged if I didn't pick up a lot of previously uncovered streets.
19 May 2007
After a late dinner, at 11 pm, Vivian and I did this ten minute walk around downtown Magnolia. This late night aerobic walk looks great in my walking stats.
Ken was down from Vancouver and we went for a fairly early dinner at Mondello. As summer approaches Seattle, the sun stays up later and later. We were able to do this circuit at about 9 pm with sun.
I had a conference call this morning at 8:30, so I took a nice long walk. Lots of good street picking.
At 10 pm on a great night, I walked down to meet the Platial crew for dinner. About a 12 minute walk, this was a nice end to the evening.
On the map, this is deceptive. It's actually a 40 minute loop.
Walked on:
26 May 2006
Vivian and I took an hour long walk around our neighborhood in Ocean Shores. Mostly we wanted to look at some new properties on Texmar. It was a great walk.

26 May 2007
This is about a 40 minute walk to the end of Ostego, also on the Bell Canals, this street seemed rather lifeless when compared to Cockle or Butterclam.

27 May 2007
A nice 30 minute walk to cover most of North Razor Clam and another part of Wynoochie.
Wow, this was a whole lot of walking late at night with crazy huge elevation gain. But I just could not let the night pass without making my 11,000 step goal.
Walked
28 May 2007
David and I took a slightly longer walk back from the pub to get in 10 minutes on an otherwise aerobic-free day.
29 May 2007
This was about a half hour walk with Chris Bauscher through the remains of the avacado fields and by the water tanks.
1 June 2007
Knocked off a lot of Bob McQueen's new neighborhood.
1 June 2007
John and I walked up to have a nice lunch at Birds and then back to his place.
Ken and I took a nice 40 minute walk down Highway 111 at about 11 pm. It was too hot the rest of the day to venture out.
What do people see in this place?
4 June 2007
Ken and I took a 15 minute walk after dinner, but then had to rush home as dinner didn't seem to work right.
5 June 2007
This is a gorgeous walk through a ravine to Eliott Bay. That part where Howe crosses over, Howe is actually about 100 feet in the air over 32nd.
This was a 15 minute walk up to Brewhaha for coffee and then back again.
Vivian and I took a 20 minute stroll around the Eliott Bay Marina.
William and I took a mildly long walk to be southern tip of lake Union.
They said it'd take 15 minutes. Any walker knows that means 15 minutes to walk!
this is a pleasant half hour loop that involves many mosquitoes.
I ended the workday with about 5,000 steps and needed 5,000 more after the baseball game ended. So I did this longish walk up to the old Smith School and the new park behind it.
I meet one of my consultants for coffee on Tuesday Mornings. Great way to institutionalize a walk
It's pretty hot today, but this was a good walk and a lot of new streets collected.
There were record low tides, and Vivian wanted to see the tidal pools. This is a wilderness hike with constant elevation gains and losses to get down to the beach. We did this on the 1st of July, which was a great way to get this month started on the right foot.
This was a walk meant to clean up some of the little chunks of street I hadn't gathered near the house.
Nice 40 minute sunday morning walk in Ocean Shores
Gathered some street sections and a good long chunk of 28th on the 12th of July
A good four and a half mile walk around the other side of the neighborhood.
I'm having to go farther and farther to get newstreets!
It was perfect walking weather when I got to San Diego. So before dinner I took a very long walk covering most of the waterfront twice.
I grabbed this during a walk in July on streets I've covered so many times it wasn't worth mapping the whole walk.
We went wandering in Ballard to first try a new place but the menu didn't appeal, so we went to Ballard Brothers on 15th.
Vivian wanted to buy some stuff on Market Street but when we got there everything was closed. So we took a walk down Ballard Avenue instead.
Steelhead has some amazing brunch.
Perkins Lane is a very expensive and highly unstable area of Magnolia. People who buy houses there have to be comfortable with their extremely expensive insurance. Every few years a few of them fall into Puget Sound.
Walked on a pleasant sunday with Vivian.
Howard Rheingold, Pearl and I went walking through a valley near his house. He's trying to do an hour a day and this walk neatly fit that bill. Lucky for both of us, it was great weather for walking.
The only problem was: when I left Mountain View it was over 90 degrees. In Mill Valley it was about 65. I drove all over Mill Valley trying to find a sweatshirt. They apparently hate sweatshirts in Mill Valley.
Finally, I borrowed a jacket from Howard.
After dinner on our first night in Monterey, Vivian and I took a long walk on the waterfront.
After having a nice meal in Benicia, Carolyn Henn and I walked along 1st Street to work off a bit of the sweet stuff.
A nice long walk from Monterey to Pacific Grove for dinner at Passionfish and then back again.
I believe Monterey / Pacific Grove is the best place I've ever walked.
William and I did this walk back in June and I forgot to put it in.
I did this walk with William and then again alone the next day. Beautiful walk this is.
I walked from the office to the APLN meeting at the Seattle Avanade offices for our confab with Sanjiv Augustine.
We did a three mile hike through Leadbetter point state park from the bay to the ocean and back again. I don't have the map resolution to even really guess at how this would actually be mapped.
I had 2,000 steps at the end of the day. I had to go for an 8k odyssey.
I'm hoping that I can list more than one baseball game in this map.
11 May 2007 Mariners 3 Yankees 0
My hotel and work locations in colo spgs are lousy for walking. However, after a great meal at Blue Star (I have been here twice now), we went for a 15 minute walk so I could exercise off my two smoky martinis.
William and I got up early to take a hike through Garden of the Gods. Even though my pedometer didn't say this was an aerobic walk, I'm sure counting it as one. My pedometer needs to take an oxygen reading, I think.
18 May 2007
I spent a few day's a Bob McQueen's house. The flyover on Google doesn't even show his subdivision yet.
Ken Thompson and I stayed here while we attended the 2007 ITS America conference in Palm Springs.
Tom has a cabin here and hosts our annual TreeLink Board of Directors Meetings.
The busiest airport also has a great tram system that is optional. If you choose to walk, you'll get a few miles in.
I walked the halls for about 3000 steps to fill out the day after my walk got rained out.
Vivian and I stayed here the first week of August 2007.
Leadbetter Point Park, Washington. Walked with William and Ryan 10 Aug 07
