This naked-eye observatory, a kind of modern Stonehenge, is designed to illustrate the 26,000 year precession of the Earth on its axis as represented by the location and path of Polaris, the Pole star, through different eras. Other portions of the structure illustrate the movement of stars in an hour and the position of the sun at the equinox and solstices. It is still under construction, but near completion and should be opening very soon.

Employee of the Month was shot at a Costco Wholesale warehouse club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Products in several interior shots display the Kirkland Signature house brand logo. In the scene where Zack and Vince are doing the final Employee of the Month challenge, on the shopping carts it says clearly Costco Wholesale. Construction of a Sam's Club store across the street had recently been completed; the rivalry between Super Club and Maxi Mart in the film parodies the real life competition between Costco and Sam's Club. The Costco location chosen is well known to Albuquerque residents; for a long time, it had been the only such store in town, previously known as Price Club.

Of the 15 states that host nuclear weapons, New Mexico ranks number one by virtue of the many warheads stored at the Kirtland Underground Munitions Storage Complex (KUMSC), a modern $43 million, 300,000-square-foot facility opened in 1992. Special military aircraft land at the Albuquerque International Airport and load and unload nuclear weapons at the "Hot Cargo Pad." Warheads are taken to the KUMSC and stored in one of 58 storage bays/underground bunkers. The facility has state-of-the-art security.

On static display at Kirtland AFB.

The North American P-51 Mustang was a successful long range fighter aircraft which entered service with Allied air forces in the middle years of World War II.

The P-51 was used mostly as a bomber escort, in raids over Germany; it was a key factor in the defeat of the German Luftwaffe and, by the middle of 1944, gave the Allies complete air superiority over Germany. It also saw significant service against Japanese air forces in the Pacific War, and was the main fighter for the United Nations in the early stages of the Korean War. The P-51 was replaced by jets in Korea but remained in service with some air forces until the early 1980's.

The definitive version of the single-seat fighter was powered by a single two-stage supercharged V-12 Merlin engine and armed with six .50 caliber (12.7 mm) M2 machine guns.

The National Atomic Museum is a large gallery of artifacts and informational displays about the nation's nuclear weapons development program. The museum is operated by Sandia National Laboratory, and is located on the grounds of Kirtland Air Force Base. On display at the Museum are numerous nuclear weapons casings, including the casings of Fat Man and Little Boy, the types of bombs used on Japan in World War II. Also on display is the casing of a Mk. 17 hydrogen bomb, the same type that fell out of a B-36 bomber on its descent into Kirtland Air Force Base in 1957. Static displays on the history of the development of nuclear technologies, and a regular screening of the film "The Ten Seconds that Shook the World" are additional features of the museum. In the lot outside is a nuclear cannon, and several aircraft, including a B-29 and a B-52. The library at the museum houses a collection of books on nuclear and military technologies. There is also a museum store that sells scientific models and toys, and an unusual collection of out-of-print books for sale. Unusual artifacts such as parts from missiles and Cray supercomputers are also sometimes available at the store. The museum was founded by the Defense Nuclear Agency in 1969, and was congressionally chartered as the nations "official" Atomic Museum in 1991. Sandia Lab took over management of the museum from the Department of Energy in 1996.
