In 2008, Sunlabob launched a south-south business initiative with Ugandan company TSSD. Now solar powered charging stations are operating in a number of remote Ugandan villages. The franchise came about thanks to a prize won at the World Bank Group's Lighting

In Feb 2012, Sunlabob won a United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) contract to supply and install 3 Solar Power Plant Systems (20 KW, 10 KW and 5 KW) to provide electricity supply to two different locations in Ganta Town, and the Rubber Science Technology Institute at Harper. The objective of the project is to strengthen the socio-economic resilience of vulnerable communities through the development of productive skills of youths, crucial in gaining access to employment in local commerce sectors.

In May 2009, Sunlabob was approached by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Afghanistan Small and Medium Enterprise Development (ASMED), and Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI), to carry out an assessment of the feasibility of the solar lamp project in Afghanistan. After initial research, a business approach was designed and a 2-phase operational model was proposed (adapted from Sunlabob’s existing models in Laos and Uganda).

In Mar 2011, Sunlabob won an international tender for a World Bank financed procurement contract, handled locally by the Rural Electrification Office of the Department of Electricity (part of the Ministry of Energy and Mines), to supply and install 12,000 Solar Home Systems (30W and 50W), including spares, to 7 provinces across Cambodia.

In June 2011, Sunlabob won an international tender to supply and install Solar Energy Systems for District Health Facilities under the Ministry of Health in Timor-Leste. The systems are to be used in health facilities, in areas where there is no connection to the power grid, to store vaccines and keep medical supplies sterile.

Since 2010, Sunlabob has been conducting technical training sessions and supplying Solar Home Systems and Solar Lantern Rental Systems to Tanzania via a local partner.

In 2011, Sunlabob entered into a partnership with Universal Consultancy Services of Nepal. The partnership is based on a one year reciprocal exchange of participants in the framework of the South-South programme
initiated by Norwegian government agency, Fredskorpset (FK). As part of the programme, Universal Consultancy Services sent 2 young professionals to work for Sunlabob in Laos.
