Wall Street, Colorado, now a ghost town, was one of many mining towns in Boulder County's foothills, is located about 9 miles from Boulder up Fourmile Canyon Drive off of Boulder Canyon Drive. At its height, Wall Street had a population of 300 people, a grocery, boarding house, school, post office, blacksmith shop, saloon, newspaper, mill, assay office and a stop on the Switzerland Trail Railroad. In 1897, Charles W. Caryl purchased 60 mining claims in the area and convinced many to invest in his grand plans, and renamed a small mining camp here "Wall Street." The main structure that remains today is the Assay Office.
