0: A Place Called Common
Probs my fave bar. Really chilled out, excellent food and really friendly, helpful staff. Frequently feature artists work which changes 3/4 times a year. Great events on in the evenings, Freitags on Friday nights are particularly good. They also have a fortnightly quiz on a Wednesday which is definitely worth a visit.
Más sobre A Place Called Common1: Castle Hotel
This place seems to have popped up from nowhere after their recent refurbishment. Another popular hipster hangout, it's regularly packed out at the weekends and you'll struggle to get a seat. A definite local pub vibe going on, they regularly feature local bands in their back room and have also recently started serving food at lunchtimes which is worth a try. A nice little hide out if you're not wanting to go clubbing and just have drinks with friends.
Más sobre Castle Hotel2: Socio Rehab
Looks like someone's living room from the outside, it's a very small bar that can get overcrowded at the weekends but the cocktails here are amazing. Bartenders know their stuff. Cocktails come complete with haribo. Always a win.
Más sobre Socio Rehab3: Trof, Northern Quarter
Great bar, really good atmosphere, always have a great mix of music on including the occasional gig. Over 3 floors it's pretty much always busy at the weekend. Open mic night on a Monday is worth a visit for comedy value and Friday nights are always great here.
Más sobre Trof, Northern Quarter4: Noho
I bloody love the furniture in here, loads of individual pieces, really comfy leather sofas and suede chairs. Cocktails are great here too, their 'Noho' drink comes complete with popping candy and a glow stick. Awesome.
Más sobre Noho5: Band on the Wall
A Manchester institution. Gigs on pretty much every night featuring a huge range of local and international artists. Amazing venue featuring probably the best sound system in the NQ. As well as gigs they put on brilliant club nights each month, well worth checking out.
Más sobre Band on the Wall6: The Night and Day Café
Another Manchester Institution. Gigs on every night of the week featuring local and internationally acclaimed bands. Nice little hangout in the day too if you fancy bumping into a few musicians.
Más sobre The Night and Day Café7: Hula
A small Tiki inspired bar featuring amazing cocktails and themed decor. Toilets here leave a lot to be desired and bar staff have been known to be rude on occasion but generally a good vibe. The 'Volcano Bowl' and 'Zombie' cocktails are well worth a try. Be warned though, quite pricey.
Más sobre Hula8: Mint Lounge
One of the only proper 'clubs' in the NQ, usually packed out on fri + sat nights. Clique on a Friday is a good one for digital/electro pop and Funkademia on a Sat is a long standing club night featuring a whole range of funk, soul and hiphop.
Más sobre Mint Lounge9: The Black Dog Ballroom
A great end of the night spot. Loads of pool tables, good pizza and open till really late at the weekends (4/5am). Can tend to attract more of a chavvy crowd earlier in the night but generally pretty cool. Their back room can also be hired out privately for parties, quite a cool little spot.
Más sobre The Black Dog Ballroom11: The Ruby Lounge
I was in two minds whether to put this on here or not. They always have great gigs here, and in general it's a cool venue for club nights etc but I always find it's too loud at gigs and get an obscured view because of the stage location. It's definitely worth a visit though and I have heard it's better since their refurb last month.
Más sobre The Ruby Lounge12: Cord
Great in the week, downstairs frequently has exhibitions on and excellent for a post work bev. Avoid at the weekend.
Más sobre Cord13: Port Street Beer House
Newly opened by the people that own Common, this bar is already a huge success. Huge selection of real ales and beer - these guys know what they're doing. Nice atmosphere and attracts a whole range of people from the usual hipster crowd to older locals.
Más sobre Port Street Beer House14: Copacabana
This is not one of my usual haunts, and I've only been a couple of times, but it's a great atmosphere inside and if you love salsa/ Latin American dancing then it's a must. Try a Mojito, it'll soon have you on your feet.
Más sobre Copacabana15: The Northern
Great little bar - well worth a visit on the first Thursday of every month for the 'Northern Digitals' night - a networking night for those in the creative industries.
Más sobre The Northern16: Soup Kitchen
Another great lunchtime venue - nice selection of healthy foods with great soups and salads. They also regularly have art exhibitions here and have recently started putting on club nights in there newly converted basement space.
Más sobre Soup Kitchen17: Odd Bar Ltd
Another cool, quirky bar. Nice to sit outside and watch the world go by in the summer.
Más sobre Odd Bar Ltd18: The Bay Horse
Pub style venue, nice atmosphere at the weekend. Usually pretty quiet in the day, great if you're wanting to hide away from the world. Hot chocolate's worth a try.
Más sobre The Bay Horse19: Dry Bar
Fairly big bar that often gets overlooked in light of Night and Day being next door. Nice leather sofas to chill out on and usually plays fairly decent music. Recently started putting on gigs in their converted basement area with varied success.
Más sobre Dry Bar20: The Frog & Bucket Comedy Club
Great little comedy venue at the back of the NQ. Monday night's 'Beat The Frog' featuring up and coming comedians is always a good laugh and free entry. Nachos here are also amazing.
Más sobre The Frog & Bucket Comedy Club21: Simple
A nice little cafe/bar - the footlong hotdog is highly recommended, but be prepared to wait, food can sometimes take a while to arrive.
Más sobre Simple23: North Tea Power
Popular hipster hangout, NTP attracts a lot of freelancers with their Apple Macs and thick rimmed glasses. Immense collection of teas to choose from and the owners are really lovely. A great little cafe.
Más sobre North Tea Power25: The Koffee Pot
Prime Saturday morning spot to recover from the night before and demolish a greasy fry up. Cheap and cheerful with excellent sausages.
Más sobre The Koffee Pot27: This & That
Amazing lunch time spot - great selection of curries including veggie options. Order 'rice and three' for 3 different types of curry all for under a fiver. Bargain.
Más sobre This & That28: Chillis
They seriously do the best god damn takeaway pizza ever here. Stuffed crust Hawaiian. YES. Highly recommended.
Más sobre Chillis 29: Sugar Junction Tea Room
Vintage inspired tea rooms serving amazing home made cakes and pancakes. Vanilla milkshake is to die for. As are the scones. This is my favourite place to come on a Saturday morning for American pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. NOM!
Más sobre Sugar Junction Tea Room30: Dough & Apotheca
Dough's a really nice restaurant and do great pizza - one of the only places that does veg and wheat free stuff. A tunnel connects it to the bar next door Apotheca - this is a nice enough bar and worth a visit in the week. Tends to attract more chavy types at the weekend though.
Más sobre Dough & Apotheca32: Piccadilly Records
The place to go if you want top quality vinyl. End of. Also, you can pick up gig tickets here too with no booking fees.
Más sobre Piccadilly Records34: Pop Boutique
A great vintage shop, with a concession in Afflecks too. It's a little pricier than some of the other vintage shops in the NQ but if you've got the cash then well worth a visit. They also do great birthday cards.
Más sobre Pop Boutique35: Retro Rehab
Probably my favourite vintage shop. Some amazing pieces and relatively good prices too. A must for any vintage junkie.
Más sobre Retro Rehab36: Blue Rinse
Recently moved to it's new home on Oldham Street - nice collection of vintage clothing and accessories.
Más sobre Blue Rinse37: Afflecks
A must see for anyone visiting the NQ. An Aladdin's Cave featuring some brilliant independent retailers. I highly recommend paying Me & Yu a visit on the top floor - great Manchester clothing label. Also really good poster shop on first floor.
Más sobre Afflecks38: Best Vintage
Yet another vintage store. Probably my least favourite of all of the ones on Oldham Street but worth a browse.
Más sobre Best Vintage39: Ryan Vintage
This is like the T K Maxx of vintage stores, it's huge and quite overwhelming but if you've got the patience to sift through you can find some amazing bargains.
Más sobre Ryan Vintage40: Oklahoma
What a brilliant little shop. Sells all sorts of crafty, kitsch items. Also features a little cafe that does really great toasties. Well worth a browse.

Great place to have a browse around on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of exhibition space and great for picking up crafty items if you fancy being a little creative.
Más sobre Manchester Craft and Design Centre43: Kabana
Great little curry cafe open mainly weekday lunchtimes. It's renown for it's traditional Indian recipes. One of the NQ's best kept secrets.
Más sobre Kabana44: Drip Coffee
Lovely little cafe hidden away on Hilton Street. Great coffee and a relaxing lunch destination.
Más sobre Drip Coffee46: Rustica
This place is famous for it's epic sandwiches. Try the bacon buttie, you won't be disappointed.
Más sobre Rustica47: Leos Fish Bar
This place seems to be constantly open. Great in the day for some classic fish and chips or equally as good for post night out scran.
Más sobre Leos Fish Bar48: Fred Aldous Ltd
I love just walking round this place. Just being in there inspires me to be creative. The number one stop shop for all art supplies.
Más sobre Fred Aldous Ltd49: Hunters BBQ
Hunters is like the takeaway equivalent of car crash TV. The classic drunken food stop. The food isn't actually half bad, I usually opt for Chicken Pakora and Chips.
Más sobre Hunters BBQ50: Kraak Gallery
Great gallery and exhibition space featuring some amazing local artists. Well worth a look round. Opening up a 2nd part of it in May 2011 to feature live music and collaborative work.

A huge mish mash of a building - they have conference and office space but also quite frequently hold exhibitions and events too. Worth checking out.
Más sobre The Hive, Lever Street52: MadLab
Madlab is a community space for people who want to do and make interesting stuff - a place for geeks, artists, designers, illustrators and the like. They have some great events on here so it's well worth checking out their website for listings.
Más sobre MadLab53: Home Sweet Home
Newly opened cafe come bar. Nice kitschy interior and standard NQ cafe menu. Prefer Sugar Junction though.
Más sobre Home Sweet Home54: Bakerie
New cafe/bar addition to the NQ - makes it's own bread with lots of different varieties to choose from. Steak sandwich on sour baked dough highly recommended! Nice vibe and very spacious.
Más sobre Bakerie56: Gullivers
Grungy kind of vibe but have some great nights here at the weekend. Bit of an escape from the 'posh' Thomas Street bars.
