6: Birthright Trip to Israel

Summer 2009

I do not think I've had a better 10 days in my life. Five cities, forty 20-somethings, seven Israeli soldiers, a lot of shawarma, and a whole lot more of Jewish history to take it. From the Western Walls of Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, the beaches at Tel-Aviv, and spending a night with Bedouins is something I hope I can do again in my life. I still keep in touch with the Israeli soldiers and those that experienced this with me.

I found an apartment with a few fraternity brothers and worked myself tirelessly between interning at the record label and serving as a caterer.

13: Isle Royal Trip

Summer 2003

Six days and five nights on one of the most beautiful terrains I have experienced. I saw moose, hiked over 50 miles, swam in Lake Superior, and cliff jumped. It doesn't get much better than that.

14: Camp Timberlane

When you are a wee little kid, you either love or hate camp. I remember begging my parents to go to overnight camp when I was as young as 11. They finally gave me the chance the next summer and I did not stop of the next nine. It is really something special when you can get away for four or eight weeks and do just about anything and everything you love.

I met amazing campers and counselors from all over the world, explored the wilderness by canoe, hiking, or climbing; sometimes 6 days at a time, learned how to barefoot waterski, and made great friends for life. Plus, it doesn't get much more impressive then a front row seat for the "Northern Lights." I went 7 years as a camper and 2 as a counselor. Spending all those days in the Northern Woods is something that will always stay close to me.

15: My Childhood

This is where Mom and Dad raised me with my younger brother Brent. I was always an active kid involved in baseball, soccer, snowboarding and more. I still remember the days when all the neighborhood kids would get together to play roller hockey in the street. I attended Deerfield High School where I played for the school’s varsity soccer team, mentored younger students, participated in DECA, and more. My days in the north suburbs gave me the confidence and drive to be the person I am.
