Fritter-ville. Banana, sweet potato, corn fritters are all fried here, winter only.Banana fritters on Pikelet and Pie
Amazing frozen yoghurt with coffee.Cafe Duy Tri on Pikelet and Pie
Famous, but average bun cha and nem cua be in the old quarter. Very expensive, comparatively.Bun Cha Dac Kim on Pikelet and Pie
A bunch of side by side street eateries on Ma May that open as the sun goes down. BBQ your own beef and vegetables. Sounds simple, but the fresh bread rolls (Banh Mi) and spicy excellent dipping sauce (oh, and the cold bia) make it.
A bunch of places around here make this famous deep fried West Lake prawn fritter. Post on Pikelet and Pie
Beef noodles in the Southern style.
I can't remember the name, maybe Saigon or Thailand desserts. Get the kem xoi - ice cream with pandan flavoured sticky rice topped with crunchy coconut. Excellent. Menu is in Vietnamese.
Down an alley around here, they do a pretty mean kem xoi (ice cream with sticky rice).
A little almost-traffic-free area lined with streetish eateries. Best at night, some places open really late. One little place down the end does excellent plain egg fried rice and deep fried quail. Delish!
Really nice western cafe/restaurant that's open 24 hours. Can't comment on the food as I've only drunk here (before and after eating on food street). Gin and tonics aren't recommended, they add a salt rim. Yuk.
Just a bunch of deckchairs set up under some trees facing the lake. Just a regular Vietnamese-style cafe serving coffee, fruit drinks and beer.
Really nice, though pricey, Italian restaurant. Recommend the pizzas, the simpler the better. Had a few average pasta dishes here. 2 glasses of wine and a pizza to share for < 500,000vnd.
A streetside joint with a cafe in the back. Bun bo nam bo here is good, as is the cafe nau da. No reason to visit here if you aren't already in the area though, it isn't that fantastic.
Breakfast.
Sometimes in the afternoons they would sell incredible roasted ducks from the street. I would come by here every afternoon between 4:30 and 5pm and occasionally they would be here. Then I would buy duck, oh yes.
Breakfast only.
Crazy dancing on the last Friday of every month. Free entry, very mixed crowd, average music and drinks. Have never eaten here, but the free bar snacks they have on Thursday nights (two for one cocktails) are pretty alright.

An extensive fresh food market packed full with meat, fish, vegetables, bread noodles, coconut products, tofu, fruit and prepared food. Spills out onto the street.
A medium sized market with a smaller range that Cho Tu Lien, but friendly stallholders and fresh produce.
