Trees; 50 Fruit trees and 6 indigenous trees. Very enthusiastic ground staff assisted the Greenpop team to set up the planting activation and the residents came outside to join in the activity. The center is really an oasis in the midst of crime ridden Mitchells Plain. The afternoon was fortunately overcast. The 50 fruit trees where donated by DHL and the 6 indigenous trees were bought by various people through Greenpop's website.

Trees Planted: 24 indigenous and 20 Olive Trees. The principal at this school, Nomalisa, is really into permaculture and already has her own veggie garden, worm farm and compost heap. Her and all the helpful pre-primary school children were so happy to get trees for shade and to help improve their soil. She is also going to be teaching her learners to cure the olives and then jar them. Thanks for being such an eco hero Nomalisa!

Received 110 trees in total.Trees were planted all around the school field to beautify the previously barren field. Kids can now have a shady place to eat their lunch and relax or watch sports games.Address: Imperial Rd Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain.
Trees: 95 indigenous trees and 75 fruit trees. Planting Day 1: 20 trees - The first 20 trees at this school were planted around a beautiful veggie garden as a wind break. Our partner organisation, SEED, grows and maintains the garden and the trees will be a great help here. Planting Day 2: 150 trees - This day was part of MTN's flagship planting day where staff came out and got their hands dirty with us. The children and teachers were also enthusiastic green fingers and fun was had by all. Thank you to all who gave trees to this school.

We planted 49 indigenous trees at this school.
We planted 30 indigenous Trees at this school.
Heathfield Primary is a well run school with very enthusiastic teachers and students. They have loads of land and need for greening.
It was an exciting day out: we where joined by an author for the Lonely Planet as well as gentlemen from Pro World. The remaining volunteers where from far and wide and added a huge amount of value to the days event.
We planted 5 indigenous and 30 fruit trees at this beneficiary.
The day went really well planting at Zimele. The weather was nice, the kids were really energetic, and the staff & community seemed to get involved. We arrived around 10am and were finished by 13:00. We planted 30 trees, all indigenous.
Meeting point for our volunteers.
We planted 5 Indigenous and 30 Fruit Trees at this school.
We planted 50 indigenous trees at the Kalksteenfontein Primary School.
We planted 40 Indigenous trees at Mokone. The school was under resourced in in most respects. It was a hot, sunny day and we had the Grade 12 learners from the International School in Wynberg join us; they were very enthusiastic and excited by the opportunity to volunteer. We had a lot of fun with the children at the school during their lunch break. We played games and they helped us pick up some of the litter around the school. The school had a lovely vegetable garden!
We planted 30 Indigenous trees at this lovely school, who seemed very motivated to look after their environment. They have a big, well-looked after vegetable garden and the school thanked us with certificates at the end of the plant, which was a lovely gesture. It was a hot and sunny day and we had a lovely group of volunteers from all over. A fun-filled day was had by all.
We planted 60 Indigenous trees with African Impact at Silverstream High. The weather was hot and dry and a lovely day was had by all. The school had planted trees in the past and so it was very encouraging to see what had been done already. The school was very enthusiastic and the planting teams came up with very exciting war-cries.
It was lovely to plant for the second time at Zimasa. We planted 30 Indigenous trees at this lovely school in very hot and windy weather. When we arrived, the holes had not yet been dug and so we had to sort this out before we could start planting. We had some lovely volunteers come and join us for the day.
We planted 30 Indigenous trees at this lovely school. It was, however, a challenging day as our facilitator, Misha, facilitated 600 students. Misha had to get up onto the roof so that all of the children could see and hear him. The weather was warm and windy and we had 5 lovely volunteers to help us out for the day.
We planted 15 Indigenous and 12 plant trees at Ikamvalethu, which is a small educare with around 80 children. It had a beautiful veggie garden going but absolutely no other greenery. SAEP is working closely with this educare. We had a hot, clear day of planting with about 25 learners from Cedar House of all ages and we had a great time. It was hard work as none of the holes were dug. We planted a big yellow wood tree in the center of the playground. It took a long time to dig the hole in the clay soil, so everyone was overjoyed when we finished getting it safely in the ground!
We planted 30 Indigenous trees at Lentegeur's Child and Family Unit, which is a really well-run oasis in the middle of the Cape Flats. The staff are extremely passionate and dedicated to the work they are doing. It was a windy day, but this did not deter anyone. We had a solid group of volunteers who really made the day possible. The youth from the hospital seemed to really appreciate the oppertunity to learn and experience nature.
We planted 30 Indigenous and 26 fruit trees at Ikhayalethemba. We had a wonderful planting day at this amazing centre with over 11 volunteers and hot, yet windy weather. The staff were really passionate about their work and they were enthusiastic about the plant, as were the children who joined us, despite being on holiday. We had a really fun-filled day at this beautiful location.

We planted 36 indigenous and 5 fruit trees at Spineview on a lovely, sunny day with a couple of volunteers and many excited children!
30 Olive trees were purchased and planted as part of the Stihl Lumberjack Festival at Lievland Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. It was an overcast day and we had 30-40 enthusiastic festival-goers who helped us plant the trees. We also planted 1 beautiful, large Yellowwood tree.
We planted 30 Indigenous trees at Kuyasa Primary; a well kept, expansive primary school with a well-maintained garden. We had a beautiful, still, sunny day with 21 enthusiastic students who were quick to learn. The school hosted a welcoming assembly full of singing, dancing, and drumming to thank us for the tree planting. Overall, everyone was incredibly gracious and welcoming.
We planted 30 Indigenous trees on this sunny, yet windy day. The school has a big open schoolyard next to the N2 and lots of Brazilian Pepper Trees, and it had one Wilde Els from a Nedbank Arbour Day planting in Sept 2011 that had died. 25 handpicked kids from life sciences joined us and were well-behaved, fun and enthusiastic. We had 5 international volunteers. We were treated with a nice little assembly with speeches, a great poem, sandwiches and juice.
We planted 25 indigenous and 11 fruit trees on this very special planting day with Diageo, who sponsored 20 indigenous trees for this school. The learners that joined were incredibly enthusiastic, Diageo brought some refreshing drinks and the school provided us with Canapés, so we could all enjoy a refreshment together after the successful planting.
We planted 2002 trees on a weekend of pure joy in May 2012 with 230 volunteers.
We planted 13 indigenous trees at this school, it has a killer view over the entire Hout Bay Harbor and both the teachers and learners had lots of fun planting with us. It was a sunny Saturday, yet we had 10 children who joined us and contributed hugely, beside the 10 volunteers of all ages that had come to help out. It was a fun day and a quick planting mission and the few big healthy trees that are already on the grounds make us hope that our little ones will be very well taken care of: Thanks Sentinel Intermediate!
We planted 18 indigenous trees at the AMANDLA EduFootball Chris Campbell Memorial Football field in Khayelitsha. It was a sunny day, we had quite a few volunteers from all over and lots of help from the fourth-graders. Both the ground staff, facilitators and children had lots of fun and were super amped, they greeted us with a dance and a song and kicked off planting with their very own AMANDLA war cry - exciting! Whitey, the groundsman, is very concerned about the trees' well-being and had lots of great ideas of how to make sure they'll be fine - the wind is strong out there! Additionally, the kids were very creative in fullfilling our task of giving the planted trees names of their choice, such as Rockstar, Happy day, Lucky day and Princess Gertrud, and when we put them down on their own tree-map and read them out aloud in the end of the day everyone cheered for their trees again!
We will be planting at this primary school on Wednesday the 13th of June, 2012.
We will be planting at this primary school on Wednesday the 6th of June 2012.
