Lugares de interés (POIs) del Mapa

0: [UK] - Bollington - Beeston Brow

Up to 20% gradient!

Más sobre [UK] - Bollington - Beeston Brow

1: [UK] - Rainow - Oakenbank Lane

This 10% uphill cobbled section acts as a transition from smooth road to tretcherous rocky footpath which is VERY difficult on thin tyres. It's very difficult to descend too, so only do it if you're a skilled rider or have an off-road bike.

Más sobre [UK] - Rainow - Oakenbank Lane

2: [UK] - Styal - Oak Cottages

A short, flat section. You can come on to it fast off the main road for a quick sprint if you're passing through the area.

Más sobre [UK] - Styal - Oak Cottages

3: [UK] - Lincoln - Steep Hill

Up to 25% Closed to traffic.

Más sobre [UK] - Lincoln - Steep Hill

4: [UK] - Manchester - Jutland Street

Manchester city centre's steepest street. You turn onto it off the main road and lose all momentum immediately.

Más sobre [UK] - Knutsford - Church Hill

6: [UK] - Nottingham - Marmion Road

Cobbles in pretty dire condition, with some concrete patches. Smooth cobbles and a ~5% gradient can cause wheelspin.

Más sobre [UK] - Nottingham - Marmion Road

7: [UK] - Kettleshulme - Kishfield Lane / Start Lane

From Kettleshulme it goes to WhaleyBridge via the reservoir. It starts as a lane, which becomes really rough as you go along, then it's cobbled for a steep section, possibly 20% around a bend. I don't think it's doable right now with all the rain there's been, but wait for a dry day and give it a try.

Más sobre [UK] - Kettleshulme - Kishfield Lane / Start Lane

8: [UK] - Manchester - Oxford Rd. Train Station

Nothing special. Slight downhill section of cobbles.

Más sobre [UK] - Manchester - Oxford Rd. Train Station

9: [UK] - Manchester - Beaufort St

Nice stretch of flat cobbles. Check out the google maps street view.

Más sobre [UK] - Manchester - Beaufort St

10: [UK] - Manchester - Duke Street / Castle Street

NICE section of flat cobbles. Very high quality small cobbles which means a harsh ride. Check out google maps street view for more details.

11: [UK] - Manchester - Potato Wharf

Picturesque stretch of nice cobbles. Check out google maps street view for more details.

12: [Belgium] - Oodenaarde - Koppenberg

The famous 20%+ climb from the Ronde Van Flandern road race.

Más sobre [Belgium] - Oodenaarde - Koppenberg

13: [UK] - Sunderland - Pann Lane

Short back alley, but not for the faint hearted.

Más sobre [UK] - Sunderland - Pann Lane

14: [UK] - Newcastle - Unnnamed back road in Jesmond

As a relatively unused service road, there's normally no traffic, and the patches of tarmac/concrete "repairs" that have been done over the years mean that it's great for practicing your "choosing the best line" skills.

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - Unnnamed back road in Jesmond

15: [UK] - Newcastle - Leazes Village (alongside St James' Park)

A narrow cobbled hill (though not too steep) with the added bonus of being right next to one of the most important stadiums in second-tier football

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - Leazes Village (alongside St James' Park)

16: [UK] - Newcastle - High Bridge (Eastern section)

City centre cobbles on a very low-traffic road

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - High Bridge (Eastern section)

17: [UK] - Newcastle - High Bridge (Western section)

Slightly more of a climb with the western part - ironically your cadence will be at its lowest as you pass "RPM".

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - High Bridge (Western section)

18: [UK] - Newcastle - Cloth Market

A good climb, probably 3% to 6%, the cobbles are a bit harsh too. The many bars and clubs on this road mean that there's often delivery lorries or broken glass on the road, so not an advisable route between Friday and Monday!

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - Cloth Market

19: [UK] - Newcastle - Saint John Street

Nice gentle hill, watch out for parked cars at western end.

Más sobre [UK] - Newcastle - Saint John Street

20: Cobbled climb

Short but very difficult cobbled climb. Proper rough pavé here, with a 'chicken run' down the centre of larger paving stones

Quite a technical section which comes out of nowhere!

Más sobre [UK] - Hazel Grove - Middlewood Road

43: [UK] - Rainow - Jenkins Chapel Test Hill AKA The Corkscrew

This is the mother of all cobbled climbs in my opinion. Harsh 30% gradient and higher on the hairpins! I don't even know if it's possible on a road bike...! There's a sharp turn before it starts, so you lose momentum before it and the stream on the road at the bottom can cause wheelspin! You can't win! When you get to the gate at the top, the road sometimes has a stream coming down it if it's been raining - it gets VERY tough beyond this point; only advisable on a mountain bike.

44: [UK] - Nottingham - Nottingham Castle

Not sure if this is technically open to road traffic, but not had any problems. Can be busy with pedestrians, and this has also smoothed off the cobbles. Slight uphill gradient but if you've got the power you'll be fine.

Best cobbled climb in the RVV, in my opinion
