The Highways Agency will help keep traffic moving over the Easter bank holiday weekend by suspending or completing more than 90 percent of its roadworks.Around 700 miles of works will be completed before the Easter weekend and 66 miles will be suspended between Thursday 5 April and Tuesday 10 April, providing extra capacity for holiday traffic. This map shows the 21 locations where roadworks need to remain in place for safety reasons. The 700 miles of roadworks cleared for the bank holiday are shown on a separate map http://bit.ly/RWe12C

Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 6.6 miles of roadworks - Moderate delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed because safety barrier is incomplete.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 2.9 miles of roadworks - Moderate delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of the proximity of open excavations.
Narrow lanes with 30mph speed limit - 1.2 miles of roadworks - Moderate delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of the proximity of open excavations.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 23 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of the proximity of open excavations.
Mix of contraflow and narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - there will continue to be three lanes in each direction - 22 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Speed limit needs to stay in place because safety equipment has had to be disabled during the roadworks. Temporary reinstatement of this safety equipment would take much longer than the Easter holiday.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 12.2 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of excavations, broken carriageway and incomplete safety barrier.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 11.3 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of excavations, broken carriageway and incomplete safety barrier.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 9.5 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Narrow lanes are needed to keep traffic away from open excavations, some barriers have been moved back for the holiday period where possible.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 4.3 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety because of the proximity of open excavations.
Narrow lanes and hard shoulder closure with 50mph speed limit - 3.2 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: The restrictions still provide four lanes in each direction and making changes over Easter weekend could be more dangerous because regular road users are familiar with the layout of this long-term scheme.
Narrow lanes with 30mph speed limit - 3 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Instability of road edge means traffic has had to be moved away from edge into narrow lanes..
Reduced from two to one lane in both directions, with 40mph speed limit - 3 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Contraflow has to stay in place because the eastbound viaduct is being demolished and reconstructed.
Narrow lanes with 40mph speed limit - 2.5 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Restrictions needed for safety reasons as there will be incomplete sections of safety barrier in the central reservation.
40mph speed limit - 2.5 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: All lane closures are being lifted for Easter, but speed limit needs to stay for safety reasons due to temporary road layout.
Narrow lanes with 40mph speed limit - 2 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Temporary traffic lights and lane closures are being removed for Easter, but other restrictions remain in place for safety because of nearby open excavations.
Narrow lanes with 40mph speed limit, plus no right turn at A46/Whisby Road junction - 1.6 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Narrow lanes are needed to keep traffic safely away from open excavations.
Narrow lanes with 50mph speed limit - 1.6 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Some restrictions are being removed for the Easter weekend, but this is not possible for a 1.6 mile stretch where there is missing safety barrier.
Narrow lanes and hard shoulder closure with 50mph speed limit - 1.5 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Narrow lanes needed to keep traffic safely away from bridge scaffolding, which cannot be removed.
50mph speed limit - 1 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Speed limit needed for stretch where safety fence is defective.
Reduced to one narrow lane in each direction and 40mph speed limit - 0.8 miles of roadworks - Nil to slight delays expected. Reason roadworks cannot be lifted for holiday period: Narrow lanes needed to keep traffic safely away from bridge scaffolding, which cannot be removed.
