Banda Islands Reefs

Previous threats include a volcanic eruption in 1988. Current threats include pollution from a lack of waste water management on the densely populated island adjacent to the reef.

Current threats include dynamite fishing and other destructive fishing methods, some aimed directly at harvesting the famous Banggai cardinal fish for the international aquarium trade.
