Spotted a car at the Burlington Coast Guard Station and drove to the cartop launch at the Millyard in Winooski. The launch is down river about .1 miles from where you must stop your car, It is then down a set of stairs and along a path to a very muddy but soft boat launch. The river was moving along at a pretty good clip near the put-in as it is only about a quarter mile below the falls/dam, but the current got much more lazy as we approached Lake Champlain. All things considered the river is pretty boring: lots of trees and muddy river banks. The scenery got a lot more pretty once we turned the corner at the mouth of the river and headed toward Burlington. Appletree Point is a very pointy peninsula and interesting to view from the water. Lone Rock is very cool with its isolated rock islands just offshore from the rock cliffs. The view of the City of Burlington with Camels Hump in the distance is wonderful. We finished off the trip with a visit to the Vermont Pub and Brewery at College and St. Paul Streets for a sampler and burgers.
