Union Valley Bicycle Trail, Eldorado National Forest, California

Leer descripción ↓↓ Ver el mapa

To reach this trail one needs to drive to Union Reservoir in the Eldorado National Forest. There are several campgrounds where parking is available. The Forest Service route to Union is paved the entire way from highway 50 from Placerville, or 193 from Georgetown. The trail is also paved and is in great condition. The trail basically follows the east shore of the reservoir and connects to several campgrounds. A couple of campgrounds are only able to be accessed by following the bike trail. This makes these campgrounds much less busy. The fishing is pretty good at Union and occasionally bald eagles nest fairly near the bike trail. Sometimes the area around the eagles is closed although the trail remains open--just stay on the bike trail when the eagles are nesting. Hikers and bicycles are allowed on the trail. No motorized vehicles. Several other nice hiking trails are nearby such as the Bassi falls trail, Millionaires trail, Icehouse trail, Van Vleck trail, and Sugarloaf Point trail.
