Salisbury Plain is criss-crossed with multiple byways that are open to public access, some are closed when the ranges are in use. Most of the trickier stuff, such as the mudholes, can be avoided and still remain on the byways. There are many tracks created by the army on the ranges there and care should be taken to stay on the designated tracks. If in doubt, there are Rangers about who will assist with the clarification.
