After the rather grueling 1.3 mile carry past Raquette Falls we had lunch at the putin. With water levels so low this year the putin is about 0.1 miles downstream from the usual putin. We headed downstream in a leasurely paddle of about 5.5 miles to a tentsite near the fork to Stoney Creek Ponds. We set up camp and coooked up a dinner of pasta/shrimp and Glen Livet 12 year old single malt. A couple of swims and a campfire and we turned in for the night. In the morning we had Starbucks instant coffee which is very good and a lot easier than using a coffee press. We headed out about 8:30 am for the last leg of our trip to the landing called "The Crusher". I had looked around some books and the Internet for the origin of the name, but could find nothing. We ran into a ranger who informed us that that it used to be the location of a stone crusher from a nearby gravel pit. Great trip.
