This is a short trip out and back to Peanut Island. The island has some great beaches as well as camping and historic sites. While the paddle is a short one it can be more difficult than it appears. Being so close to the inlet the tides and winds are often strong. One tip if launching from the same put in as us is to see which way the boats at anchor are facing, then paddle in the opposite direction around the island to avoid fighting the tide. Our destination was a small beach which affords a nice view of the inlet, has good snorkeling, especially at high tide, and it is further away from the more crowded beaches near the ferry.
