Lower San Juan River

A five-day raft float trip through a scenic canyon, side hikes to natural pools, mostly flat with some class 1 and 2 rapids and a mild class 3 rapid difficult to run smoothly with a boat loaded heavy with gear. The trip is mostly mellow; however, the location is very remote and there is real potential for accidents - flashfloods, falls, etc. There is no potable water, nor filterable water at all, so groups must be self sufficient. Trip requires a permit. Groups must have a groover, self bailing rafts/kayaks, pfds, raft repair kits and other gear.
