Along the Rhein around Düsseldorf 79 km

Cycling track along the Rhine/Rhein river starting just south of Düsseldorf, going south along the west bank and north along the east bank. The track is flat apart from the four bridges it crosses. The cycling tracks along the Rhine are sometimes not too wide and shared with pedestrians and joggers near cities and villages, which requires you to watch your pace there. At some places the route crosses land that is sometimes inundated, as it had been 1-2 weeks before my trip. The road there is then scattered with debris at places. Beautiful river views along almost the entire route. The cityscape of Düsseldorf is striking with the Altstadt, the river, and the Rheintower making a pleasing combination. The route passes a surprising amount of river nature and countryside views. There are restaurants and bars along the entire route in Düsseldorf and villages; especially those near the Altstadt make for a convenient break.
