3: Guadalajara - Mexico City, ETN bus
Such a plush bus! 610 pesos ($52) and 7 hours. Fully reclining seats with leg rest, personal televisions, and slow, but functional, internet.
Más sobre Guadalajara - Mexico City, ETN bus4: Mexico City - Oaxaca (ADO)
1138 pesos for the two of us ($96). Bus wasn't as nice as the Guadalajara - Mexico City one; seats were four across, so more people. No internet, and no personal screens. Still quite comfy for a 6-hour ride, and the scenery was amazing.
Más sobre Mexico City - Oaxaca (ADO)5: Oaxaca - Zipolite
6-hour minibus over the mountains (glad I don't have real motion sickness problems!), 120 pesos each. Then taxi (100 pesos) from Pochutla to Zipolite. We were going to take a camioneta, or shared pickup, but then we got rained on by plaster and it was really hot out and the camionetas were all crazy full. Whine, whine.

Más sobre San Salvador - Bogota12: Bogota - Popayan (Flight, Aires)
We flew from Bogota to Popayan; $340,000 Colombian pesos for the two of us (US$192). The Aires flight was 90 minutes late and we were given no information, but the price was good and the flight itself was fine.

We haggled at the station and got a bus for 10,000 COP/person ($5.62). The bus took a while, but the ride was very interesting, through market towns and very Afro-Colombian areas.
Más sobre Popayan - Cali bus15: Lima - Arequipa, Cruz del Sur bus
130 soles ($47) for a 15-hour luxury night bus. The seats were cama, meaning full bed, and they folded down pretty far. Wi-fi, too, though it gave out halfway through the trip. And they made us watch White Girls.

Took regular bus there (20 Bs, $2.82) and slightly nicer tourist bus (30 Bs, $4.30) back. Either way, THE BUS GETS ON A BOAT. Really. And you get on a different boat. And it takes about 3.5 hours.
Más sobre La Paz - Copacabana22: La Paz - Sucre, AeroSur

10 hour or so night bus. Fine, but again not fancy. Sprung for cama seats for the overnighter. 337 pesos or $82 each. They showed a BOOTLEG copy of Fast and Furious 5, with terrible sound and the right third of the screen cut off!
Más sobre Córdoba - Salta, Chevallier32: Salta - Puerto Iguazu, AR
Tigre de Iguazu bus. 24 hours. Not particularly pleasant. We could hear the driver's loud music the entire time. 2 changes of bus, one at 5:15 in the morning. Broken or poorly set windows caused lots of rattling. Terrible movies, but at least they weren't bootleg. (Hit List, Big Stan.)
Más sobre Salta - Puerto Iguazu, AR33: Puerto Iguazu, AR to Montevideo, UR
Took a bus (Expresso SInger) from Iguazu to Concordia (336 AR, or $81, each), which dropped us in a muddy ditch by the side of the road. A waiting taxi took us and a new-found friend (165 AR total, incl. border fee - we paid 110, or $27) across the border to Salto, UR. Más sobre Addis Ababa - Gondar50: Gondar - Bahir Dar
200 Birr ($11.63) for the two of us on a minibus with a bunch of other people. Lots of slamming on the brakes and then a bunch of yelling when they didn't want to take us to our hotel after agreeing to do so (they eventually relented).

We stayed at Donde el Indio Duerme for two nights, which was PLENTY. 350 pesos ($29.54). The first room was gross. Second marginally better, though a spring poked Logan all night and the paint was peeling from the walls in sheets. I was afraid of the shower.
Más sobre Tlaquepaque, Jalisco91: Casa Comtesse
A lovely B&B. Stayed in two different rooms. La Malinche ($73/night) larger, with bathroom, but loud (faced the street). La Cocapa ($60/night) smaller and quieter, dedicated bathroom across the hall. Good internet, good location several blocks from Metro, good breakfast, nice multilingual people.
Más sobre Casa Comtesse92: Hostal Pochon
330 pesos per night ($28). Because of a mixup at the front desk, private rooms weren't available, but we were given a four-bed room to ourselves (they even pushed the bunks together). Left after two days, though - internet nonexistent in evenings, and one women's and one men's bathroom for the whole complex. Very nice people, though.
Moved to Casa de las Arboles, (not hotel arbol) which was amazing but seems to have very little Internet presence.

Pet peeve - please don't give me a literally 20 minute shpiel in Spanish about your tour offerings when I've told you we're fresh off a 24 hour bus and don't have very good spanish. Internet ridiculously expensive - charged by the megabyte; guest phone out of order with no alternative; owner rude and racist, too (griping about Muslims wanting to rent rooms by the hour during Ramadan and Africans' laziness). List of mean-spirited rules. Expensive. 480 R ($66) for double, shared bath.

Interesting building with decent attached restaurant, but the place was pretty expensive ($50/night) and smelled strongly of mildew. Decent mosquito nets and a/c, which didn't really work. Wi-fi occasionally at the office of the tour company. I much preferred Hotel Kiponga, which was the same price.
