11: Hvannadalshnjúkur

The tallest peak in Iceland - visible from 100 miles away in Vik. Wouldn't recommend climbing without months of planning.

12: Jökulsárlón

A long drive from Reykjavik but if you leave early enough you can get here and back in a day. A lake full of icebergs. The beach nearby is also not to be missed.

The Esja mountain range is visible from most of Reykjavik, and has a clearly marked route to the top. Stunning views, as you'd expect. Park by the P icon on this map.

A sequence of waterfalls with the fan-shaped one at the top one of the most spectacular (and noisy) in Iceland

59: Látrabjarg

Puffins, guillemots and razorbills on cliffs that reach up to 400m high. Incredibly tame - get there late evening in the summer for most birds.
