Program Information
The program was designed to offer three exit options.
- The first is a Maternity Worker Certificate, where the graduate would support and provide assistance to birthing families for the duration of the pregnancies.
- The second is a Midwifery Diploma which gives students the knowledge base to fulfill the competencies specific to Nunavut and those stipulated by the Canadian Midwifery Regulatory Consortium.
- The third is a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery which would enable the graduate to assume a more formalized midwifery leader role in any community.
The program was designed to rotate between the three sites with birth centres in Nunavut: Rankin Inlet, Iqaluit and Cambridge Bay. Rankin Inlet was the first site to host the midwifery education program and it was based there for two cycles. The current cycle is in Cambridge Bay in the Kitikmeot region.

252: The Inuulitsivik Midwifery Education Program
The Inuulitsivik Midwifery Education Program is an academic and clinical education program for Inuit women working in their own communities on the Hudson Bay Coast of Nunavik (Northern Québec).
