WCRVBB-19-Biking Low Danube - STAGE 07 - Bechet-Zimnicea 130 km

Etapa 7 de la Ruta que discurre por el bajo Danubio de Belgrado a Constanta, durante 1017 km hasta el Mar Negro en 10 etapas. Etapa que va de Bechet a Zimnicea íntegramente ya en Rumania. El panorama es similar al de la sexta etapa, recurriendo a cierta distancia del Danubio dentro del territorio gitano (cale). Continuamos atravesando pueblos alargados en forma de casas junto a la única carretera asfaltada. Antes de Corabia, llegamos a la fortaleza de Sucidava, con no demasiada interés pues está totalmente derruida y sólo se ve algún vestigio de los cimientos. Parada especial a Corabia, con ciertos elementos de interés como la Catedral, la plaza central y una basílica antes de salir al pueblo. Antes, sin embargo nos acercamos al río para ver su inmensidad con un poco de puerto de carga de grano. Más adelante encontramos un monumento a los héroes, con más vistas sobre el Danubio. Todo el mismo panorama, hasta llegar a Turnu Magurele, donde nos podemos refugiar del calor en un parque central muy arbolado y cerca de una fuente que proporciona frescura. El monumento a la Independencia y la Catedral son los otros elementos de interés. Continuamos por territorio con instalaciones eléctricas abandonadas, como muchas líneas eléctricas (la constante en esta zona) y una central térmica en ruinas. El camino ya nos lleva con la misma tónica hasta Zimnicea, otro oasis en medio de la zona gitana. El centro está bastante modernizado, aunque los alrededores ya se ve más pobreza.

STAGE DESCRIPTION
In this stage we continue crossing the gipsy area of Rumania, like in the previous stage. We continue crossing long villages with an only asphalted road (the main road). Before Corabia, we can visit the ruins of Fortress Sucidava. Not very interesting because his deteriored status of the ruins. Corabia is a big city, quite modern with a central place and cathedral interesting to visit. Then we turn to meet the river, which is near in Corabia because of the altitude of the city, than protects from the floods. Here we meet a little harbour for cargo of grain. Before leaving Corabia, we visit a little Basilic. All the way to Turnu Magurele is the same of the first part of the stage. We ride away from Danube, in a little altitude from the river. This protects the romanian people from the water levels in winter an spring. We can visit a monument from heroes with excellents views to the river. In the final part we ride between many unused electrical lines and power termic generators. This is frequent in this part of the country. We reach Zimnicea, the end of the stage.

POINTS OF INTEREST
   - Succidava Fortress.
   - Corabia's Cathedral and central park.
   - Views to the Harbour in Corabia.
   - Basilic of Corabia.
   - Turnu Magurele and its central park, with the Cathedral, fountain and Independence monument.

DESTINATION POINT
Zimncea quite modern in the center part, with a market and a big pleasant central park. The arounds are more poor. Hotel Inter is a quite confortable and not so expensive alternative to pass the night.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
There are no alternatives routes. There is this only road parallel to the Dunav but a few kilometers away to protect from the floods of the river.
