The Prices

The AbetoneMultipass includes all the lifts in Abetone and the prices are the same as lastyear. A day pass on weekdays costs €29.00 for adults and €26.00 for those over65. There will also be day promotions: on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridaysadults can ski for €26.50. On holidays, the ticket charge is €36.00 for adultsand €32.00 for those over 65.


There will also be discounts for the wholeseason for those under 14 and over 65. The under 14 pass costs €24.00 onweekdays and €30 on holidays. The ski resort of Doganaccia, in the municipalityof Cutigliano (Pistoia), comprises around 10 km of downhill slopes. Itis easily accessible from the town thanks to the cable car. Upon arrival at thecable car station, the ski school area is served by a lift. The same lift alsoserves the Tre, Due and Chierroni pistes. The lift of Faggio di Maria servesthe second part of the track of the same name, as well as the second part ofDirettissima.

Thanks toartificial snow, skiing is guaranteed over the whole area. Come into contactwith nature on the country ski trails that extend for 2.3 km around Lake SanGualberto and another 3.2 kmat Croce Arcana.

Besides skiing

There arealpine ski routes linking the Croce Arcana to Monte Cornaccio (Corno alle Scale- Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi - Lake Scaffaiolo).

The funSnow-Tubing area next to the ski school area has a conveyor belt to bring therubber tubes back up the mountain. A section of the ski school area is alwaysserved by a conveyor belt to help small children reach the top.

The resort of Doganaccia is accessible from the town of Cutigliano,which can be reached from both Emilia Romagna and Tuscany:the highway n.12, which connects the two regions, allows visitors from both Modena and Luccato get to Doganaccia quickly. There is also a bus which runs from Pistoia.

How to get here

Situated in the province of Lucca, 50 km to the north, the valley is crossedlongitudinally by Garfagnana’s Regional Road 445 that connects Highway 12 fromAbetone and Brenner, to the start of the A15 Parma-La Spezia motorway, at thecastle of Aulla (49 kmfrom Castelnuovo). Other ways to get here are: to the west through theCipollaio tunnel on the Arni Provincial Road, which connects with Versilia (50 km from Forte dei Marmi)and to the east the Passo di Pradarena (Km.130 from Reggio Emilia) and Passodelle Radici (Provincial Road 72, km.125 from Modena).


Fairly well served by public transport, the resort can be reached by bus from Lucca or the Lucca-Aullarailway service. A coach service connects Castelnuovo to the various towns ofGarfagnana.

By bus:
from Luccaor Versilia take the route for Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.
From here, there are services to the different towns (closed on Sundays andholidays).

By train:

The ski resort of Mount Amiata offers 10 km of cross-country skiing with 8 lifts and 10 km of cross country skitrails (of which 5 kmare bashed trails), connected by a network of nearly fifteen kilometres of skilifts. The slopes have varying degrees of difficulty and are suitable for everytype of demand and capacity.


MonteAmiata, between the Maremma and the Val d'Orcia, is easily accessible fromeverywhere in central Italyand is the ideal place to learn to ski, as its runs are easily accessible and have facilities at all departurepoints. The two ski schools areconnected to the entire ski area. It is a mountain suitable for families, whichalso has runs for those seeking moreof a challenge or racing, such as Crocicchio-Dedo, a track where European-level competitions were held for years.

There are numerous comfortable accommodationpossibilities, offering visitors warmth and good food. You can stay at the topof the mountain directly on the ski slopes or down in the towns. Abbadia,Arcidosso, Castel del Piano, Piancastagnaio, Santa Fiora and Seggiano arethe nearby villages which are arranged in a ring on the mountainside. Away fromthe ski slopes the few kilometers of roads are streamlined and functionalwithout spoiling the beautiful landscape.

Winter in Amiata has something magical about it. Houses seem to snuggle together,keeping warm under the snow, living a more traditional type of life.

Each town in the winter has festivals that celebrate their historicorigins. The Fiaccolate festivals during the Christmas period, the Befanate andthe Feast of the Dead Carnival are events which are now part of the yearly tradition.


The oldvolcano of Amiata has beech forests upon it, where you can find cross-countrytrails reserved for hikers and lovers of cross-country skiing and skimountaineering. It is an area unique and unmistakable for its landscape,covered by dense vegetation and large rocks scattered over its slopes, whichwith the white snow seem as though they come straight out of a fairy-tale,alongside the villages steeped in history. Visitors often come across deerduring outings into the wood, which are more approachable during the winter asthey search for food.

The jewelin the crown is the view that Zum Zeri offers; from the highest point of thepass the dazzling white of the snow melts into the intense blue of the Liguriansea. From the ski slopes you can see the Gulfof La Spezia, the coastline of the Cinque Terreand nearby Corsica.

By car
Parma-La Spezia highway: leave the highway at Pontremoli (A 15), then take the SP36 Pontremoli – Zerifor around 18 kmto the Palazzo Comunale at Patigno di Zeri.

Genova-Livorno highway
: exit the highway at Carrodano or Brugnato ( A 12), following signs for SestaGodano, and from here take the Sesta Godano – Zeri road, for around 25 Km to the Palazzo Comunaleat Patigno di Zeri.
Firenze-Mare highway
: exit the highway at Montecatini Terme, near Lucca, at the Viareggio-Lucca junction. Continue until you reach Viareggio and then follow directions forGenova-Livorno-Rosignano Marittimo; Continue on the Autostrada Azzurra for 57 km.
Close to La Spezia,follow the signs towards Parma along the Autostrada della Cisa for 27 km.
Exit the highway at Pontremoli.
Follow the SP36 for around 18 km to the Palazzo Comunale at Patigno di Zeri.

By train

From the Pontremoli train station there are bus connections (C.A.T.)
