Quarry Trail Loop

This is an easy Out-and-back / loop hybrid with several short moderate sections providing access to some of the most jaw-dropping scenery in Auburn SRA. This route follows the entirety of the Quarry Trail, a portion of Western States to a spectacular overlook of Murderer's Bar on the Middle Fork, up to Hawver Cave and the Quarry Cathedral and back down PG&E trail and a short connector trail to the Quarry Trail. Take Hwy 49 south from Auburn, turn right across the American River towards Cool. Turn left on a small dirt road ¼ mile south of the river crossing. Trailhead is beyond the parking area at a green gate. Park along the road to save the $10 parking fee.
