Platanias, Chania, Crete

Over the mountain - out through the valley. This route can be run, hiked or mountain biked, whatever you fancy. Make your choice: An easy start up through the river valley or a rough start up the steep slopes of the old Platanias city. Either way, you'll find yourself in a most scenic landscape shifting from the barren mountain grounds with the wide ocean view to docile olive groves and orange plantations. The road in the valley is asphalt, on the mountain it is soil (with concrete on the steepest slopes). There are a few animal fences to be opened and closed on the top of the mountain.
