Auburn State Recreation Area ( http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=502 ) Robie Point area: Steep... with a few mysteries left over from the dam proposal investigation. Eventually you are on the river on a small rocky beach. The cable with barrels hanging from it apparently was going to be strung across the canyon to prevent boats from going up to the dam. since the dam was never built this artifact is hanging with trees growing through it.
