Mt Barney South East Ridge, South Ridge Circuit

This is a great walk, one of my favourites and is the hike I take any first timers to Barney. SE ridge is a lot more difficult than than South Ridge but the views are sensational. BE WARNED, there is exposure and scrambling up steep rock and over 1000m of elevation gain over 3km. The trail is well worn and little navigation problems arise. However, if clouds roll in visibility can drop and the route down to rum jungle can get confusing with the potential of getting lost. There is thick vegetation and forest in the valley between east and west peaks and the trail is usually well taped. However, don't underestimate this mountain, be prepared for the worst.
