0: Lottie's Big Mountain
Anthony and Judi Stover*
ASAP Diaspora, Southeast Asia
Here, Lottie is looking over a mountain town, called “Big Mountain,” in a city in SE Asia. In this town, there are many Buddhists, but in and around the city (and the mountain) are many Hindu Nepali people. There are a few Nepali believers, and Lottie has helped send workers to them to give them teaching and encouragement. They, in turn, have shared with other Nepalis, some of whom have also come to know Christ. Please lift up the Nepalis in and around “Big Mountain.”
Thank you for your giving to Lottie!

Three new personnel and I traveled out to a village to prayerwalk and share the Gospel. As we walked around, we found this Buddhist idol, symbolic of what some of these villagers put their faith in. Later, one of the apprentices was able to share a simple Gospel presentation in the local language.
There are two key activities that all of our missionaries do to be effective:
1. Learn the local language so that we can share the Gospel in people’s heart language.
2. Travel out to places to share the Gospel among people who have never heard the name of Jesus.
Language learning and local travel are two of the most important things that our missionaries do. Imagine a car without tires. It might have a powerful engine, leather seats, and a shiny paint job, but without the tires, the car isn’t going anywhere.
In the same way. if we don’t have money to learn language or travel, then we’re not going anywhere. Just::text like there’s nothing glamorous about tires, in the same way there’s nothing glamorous about giving money towards learning a language or buying bus tickets.
We thank you all the more for giving through the LMCO that allows our missionaries to learn language and travel out to places in order to share the Gospel effectively.

Our family built a friendship with a long distance driver. We shared the Gospel with him and he readily accepted Jesus. However the following weekend his faith was put to the test during a holiday where the people of his minority group all worship their ancestors. We shared the Gospel with his family before that event and shared how only God was worthy of worship. The man struggled with his decision as he did not want to be seen as disloyal to his family.
We continued to pray for his family and take his car for long distance trips, sharing Bible stories with him at every opportunity.
Last week while visiting a friend who had a baby at the hospital, my kids and I ran into him. He was visiting his mother-in-law who had thrown out her back and couldn't move. We visited her and shared the Gospel, and she prayed to receive Jesus!
Two days later, I visited her again taking along a believer friend. In half an hour, this grandmother who hadn't been able to move in eight days was sitting up in bed and walking around the room with help.
We gave praise to Jesus and the grandmother's eldest daughter said, "How do I follow Him? I want to believe in Him too!" God is working and wants to save our friend's whole family!
We are so grateful for your giving that allows us to spend quality time among these precious people; we can bring the hope of Jesus to them in their time of need!

Being an American and native English speaker living in Japan, I have the opportunity to get involved on a deep level with many university students. The young man in the picture is an English Literature major who wants to spend extra time studying English.
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering allows me to provide a context where this university student can hear and respond to the Holy Spirit’s voice by using the English Bible to help him gain more English knowledge. More importantly, his study of the Bible helps him know the One who created him.
Thank you for contributing to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Because you give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Christian workers are able to live in East Asia while devoting their full attention to the work of evangelism.
