The Avasara Young Talent (AYT) program provides financial support to motivated girls who are at risk of dropping out of school because of financial difficulties. School fees for these students range from about Rs 100-900 ($2-$18) a month, however, with an average monthly income of about Rs 7500 ($150), many parents struggle to make these payments, especially if they have multiple children to educate. This map shows the geographical coverage of our program. We awarded scholarships to 105 girls from 12 different schools in Mumbai, India. We paid a percentage (60%,80%,100%) of the annual school fees of the selected scholars—ranging from class 2nd to 10th—with an average scholarship of Rs. 4000 ($80).
