0: J.Guesthouse

Nice guesthouse (spacious rooms, good view, wifi, private bathroom in each room, a/c), offers monthly rates (from 8,000 baht/month). In a quiet area close to Nopparat Thara beach (10 min walk), close to local open air markets (east), and a few restaurants (near the beach).

There are several similar guesthouses/serviced apartments in the area.

1: Bernie's guesthouse/restaurant

A basic but comfortable and very centrally located guesthouse. Fan rooms 500 baht per night. Wifi isn't very strong in the rooms, but ok downstairs in the restaurant. OK for a couple of days for checking out the city. Lots of similar ones on this strip though.

This place also has a restaurant and a bakery with delicious fresh baked goodies.

2: Nopparat Thara beach

Much cleaner and nicer than Ao Nang beach. No sewage, no boat traffic. Also less crowded. Still need to find any decently deep spots though.

Open air market selling cooked food, fresh fish and meat, fruit, clothes, etc. Open on Saturdays, not sure about other days. Location is approximate.

7: Fancy area

This is an area with a bunch of fancy hotels and resorts that charge 1,000-3,000 baht per night (25,000-150,000 baht per month). Ever basic cheapo guesthouses don't do much of a deal for monthly rates here because they can fill the rooms easily with daily rates in high season.

8: Bungalows

This area has a bunch of bungalows for rent. Really nice scenery, mountains and tropical forest. Not sure about rates or internet connectivity.

9: Cody's old house

This is the townhouse that Cody rented for 6 months. He says "3 bedrooms, there's a whole row of these 3-story, 3BR, 4 bathroom places with a big kitchen, common area, rooftop terrace and balconies for each bedroom"

This place is about 3.5 km from Ao Nang beach (can't really swim there, sewage in water and boat traffic), and 4.5 km to Nopparat Thara beach.

This might be a good option if everyone has a car or motorbike. Not really walking distance to the beach (about 1h to Nopparat Thara on foot)
