771NAS Rescues 2012

During RNLI Exercise, tasked by Falmouth CG to 80 year old male with suspect broken femur. Confined area precluded landing so winch used. Transported to Treliske hospital.

Tasked by Brixham CG to 4 year old boy with suspected spinal injury having slipped on rocks. Complex winch in close proximity to civilian personnel. During initial winch, beach items (bodyboard and inflatable dinghy) lifted by downwash v close to main and tail rotors, within 10 feet. Rapid reposition to high hover rendered further winching uneventful. Casualty and mother taken to Derriford hospital.

Tasked by SWAST to 52 year old female fallen from cliff in vicinity of St Ives with suspected pelvic break. Retasked while airborne to 135/29JUL12

Tasked by SWAST to 80 year old male with suspected appendicitis on Isles of Scilly. Routine transfer to Treliske hospital.

Tasked by Falmouth CG to 31 year old female fallen from height near Helford river. Complex winch at high aircraft weight with v little margin. 104%Tq in hover. Casualty lifted to Treliske hospital, where retasked to 133/27JUL12

Scrambled to 35 year old female fallen on cliff path. Broken ankle. Ambulance not able to access so lifted to Treliske hospital.

Scrambled to 17 year old female fallen 23-30 feet from cliff with suspected head, spinal, pelvic injuries. Beach landing to transfer winchman to scene followed by transfer of casualty & mother to Treliske hospital. Subsequent full recovery by casualty.

Scrambled to assist a diver with the Bends in Mounts Bay. Casualty recovered from a RHIB and flown to Derriford hospital.

During previous SAR sortie, tasked to Isles of Scilly to transfer suspected heart attack casualty. Aircraft initially landed St Mary's for refuel before transit to Bryher where casualty embarked and flown to Treliske hospital.

While returning from previous sortie, tasked to assist with female reported collapsed on cliff path in vicinity of Porthcurno beach. Casualty and partner lifted by winch and transferred to Penzance heliport for Land ambulance transfer due to higher priority tasking. (see 128/23JUL12)

Tasked to West Pentire to assist with male stuck mid way up a cliff. Recovered by winch and transferred to Crantock beach. Retasked to 127/23JUL12 during return to base.

Tasked to scene of 11 year old male fallen from cliff at Cadgwith. Casualty recovered by stretcher and taken to Treliske hospital.

Tasked during training sortie to attend scene of jetski collision in Carrick Roads. 2 casualties airlifted to Treliske hospital.

Tasked to assist with reported light aircraft crash in vicinity of Portreath airfield. Cliff search and aerial photography of crash site for Police.

Tasked to investigate activation of distress beacon 45nm north of Newquay. Yacht located in that position with dehydrated casualty subsequently recovered by winch and taken to Treliske hospital.

Tasked to the Isles of Scilly to conduct medical transfer of casualty with broken hip to Treliske hospital.

Tasked to transfer casualty suffering from suspected heart attack from Isles of Scilly to Treliske hospital.

Tasked to transfer 27 year old male with lower abdominal pain from Isles of Scilly to Treliske hospital.

During mid-afternoon training sortie, tasked to person stuck on cliff at Kennack Sands. Winched to beach and training sortie continued.

While departing for training sortie, tasked to assist 75 year old male on board MV Scillonian with suspected heart attack.Winch transfer of winchman followed by stretcher. Casualty packaged and transferred to helicopter with his partner, then to Treliske hospital.

While on training sortie, tasked to 35 year old male hit by rock while laying on beach. Casualty winched in stretcher and transferred to Treliske hospital.

Tasked to conduct search of Person In Water in Helford River. Nothing found after extensive search. Search called off.

Night training interrupted by tasking to person missing in vicinity of Clodgy Point. St Ives RNLI ILB and CG team. Casualty located by ILB. Stood down.

During training sortie, retasked by Falmouth CG to transfer casualty from Falmouth RNLI ALB. Winch transfer conducted in mouth of Carrick Roads and casualty lifted to Treliske hospital.

During training sortie, tasked to assist Brixham CG search for man seen swept into sea at Torbay. After 4 hours searching, search called off with nothing found.

During previous tasking, routed to scene of 60 year old male fallen from ladder (approx posn shown) 2nm south of Hayle. On board Paramedic assessed casualty's condition as suitable for land ambulance, so transfer of previous casualties continued.

Tasked to Isles of Scilly for 2 casualties; 1 20 year old female and 1 32 year old female with suspected broken back. Lifted from St Mary's and transferred to Treliske via scene of 111/06JUL12

Tasked by SWAST to a 50 year old female who had fallen whilst walking her dog. Casualty suffered open fracture of Tibia and Fibia and required medical transfer to Treliske hospital.

While on RNLI training exercise, tasked to Tragantle to a paraglider crashed on cliffs. Recalled en route.

While walking to the aircraft for training sortie, tasked to Chapel Rock, Perranporth, where a 15 year old male had fallen whilst climbing. Paramedic and father accompanied casualty to Treliske hospital.
