We were on a family vacation 3 miles past the end of the road on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was 2 days before my sons 2nd Birthday. We had not had the television or radio on all morning. We left on our way to, ironically, the Kitty Hawk Museum, when we reached the road we stopped to fill the tires with air at the gas station. That is where we learned about the terrorist attacks that were unfolding. We turned on the radio just as the news anchor said, "The second Tower just collapsed. I vividly remember my husband saying, "Bin Laden" is behind this, and I turned to him and said, "Who is Bin Laden?" Strange to think about now.
