WaterAid | Suzanne Porter WaterAid | Keeping the pumps flowing Locally trained mechanics are making sure that a safe water supply is maintained. WaterAid's partners train local women and men like Haruna Abdullah, from Birnin Gaye, Bauchi State, to be able to maintain and repair water points in their village. This means that supplies are safe and sustainable, and that people don't have to revert to using dangerous water sources, contaminated with disease. A recent WaterAid survey of Ekiti State showed that 100% of all handpumps were working well thanks to the efforts and expertise of local people.
