Nabintu Kelekele Kalamba, 49. Beaten to death with a hammer by her husband. At about 1 a.m. on March 16, the couple's 24-year-old daughter called police to the Beaverton home in the 6100 block of Southwest King Boulevard saying her dad had killed her mom with a hammer. Police found Namegabe Kelekele Mushegero, 51, standing in front of the residence with what appeared to be blood on his hands and clothing. A hammer was found just inside the residence's front door, covered with blood. An officer and medical examiner found Kalamba's body lying face down in the apartment's upstairs bedroom. Blood was spattered throughout the bedroom, and she had two visible and significant injuries to her head. Mushegero confessed he hit his wife because she was going to leave him. At trial, he testified that he became enraged when she taunted his manhood. Mushegero was convicted of murder and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
