Harlee Rena Holland, 24. Her body was found Aug. 27 in the bathtub of her apartment at the Tualatin Meadows complex off Southwest 90th Avenue in Tualatin. An autopsy revealed she died from strangulation. Authorities say that Ali Mohamad Mattar, 27, a recent acquaintance, told friends and family that he "had things to do" and was going to meet friends from out-of-town the night of Aug. 26, 2001. Instead, he went to Holland's apartment and raped and killed her. The corpse's fingers had also been severed. To avoid the death penalty, Mattar pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and corpse abuse. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
