Autumn Marie Patterson, 19 months. Died July 12 of brain hemorrhaging consistent with being shaken violently. The child lived with her mother's friends in a home on Northeast Hood Street in Hillsboro. Residents of the house called 9-1-1 about 6:30 p.m. July 12. Paramedics could not resuscitate the baby, who was pronounced dead at Tuality Community Hospital. She had old and new injuries of bleeding on the brain, fractures of both shoulders, fractures on a rib, two broken bones in her right leg, lacerated bowels and numerous bruises and scrapes on her head, face, back and legs. Police arrested Leonardo Andrade Paromo, 41, of Hillsboro for allegedly shaking the girl to death while her mother, Jamilah Springer, 40, was in jail. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
