The genius of Roman architecture is interpreted in a stunning museum on the grounds of the
ancient Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard, whose arches soar for three levels above the Gardon River. Visitors can walk across the bridge on one level and then climb a hill to cross back over through one of the large pipes built to carry mountain spring water for the fountains of Nimes 40 miles from the mountains to the north to Nimes, at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.
