Spectacularly located on a cliff overlooking the turquoise Caribbean, Tulum is a late-Maya site that was active from around 1200 AD until the arrival of the Spanish. The Tulum ruins are the third most visited archaeological site in Mexico, after
Teotihuacan and
Chichen Itza. Located just 120 km south of the popular beach resort of Cancun, Tulum makes a popular and easy day trip by bus.
