Link Chiba Castle is a hilltop style Japanese Castle located in Inohana Park Chiba city. Chiba Castle was first constructed in 1126 by Chiba Tsuneshige. In 1455 Makuwari Yasutane attacked Chiba Castle and took control of what was left. While Makuwari Yasutane took the name of Chiba (he was already related), he didn't rebuild Chiba Castle. Instead he built a new castle, Honsakura Castle, at nearby Sakura. The site of Chiba Castle was left in ruins until a modern concrete donjon (tower) including a museum (Chiba Folk Museum) was built on the site in 1967. This modern donjon is much larger than any that ever stood on the site of Chiba Castle |
