A mosque in construction at the site of the old al-Muthana Airport, which is no longer in use after it was heavily bombed in the first Gulf War. The structure, on completion, would have four minarets, an artifial lake depicting the Muslim world and a domed hall capable of holding 30,000 worshipers. This will make it the third largest mosque in the world after those of Mecca and Medina. The mosque has been in construction since 1998 and was expected to be completed in 2015.
